On this historic day (9-09-09) I wanted to mention something else historic. This year marks 17 STRAIGHT losing seasons for my Pittsburgh Pirates ... a new record in futility. I'm a huge Pirates fan and always will be, but come on ... enough is enough already! The last time the Pirates had a winning season was 1992 when they went 96 - 66 and lost to the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS Game 7, bottom of the 9th (thanks for nothing Sid Bream). :) Anyway, here are a few things that happened the last time the Pirates had a winning season:

- Silence of the Lambs won the Oscar for Best Picture
- The Cosby Show went off the air
- Johnny Carson retires
- Brett Farve starts his first game for the Green Bay Packers
- "Gangsta" rapper Dr. Dre releases his groundbreaking album The Chronic
- Singer/Actor Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) and Olympic gymnist/DWTS winner Shawn Johnson are born.
- Rich kicks a vacuum when Sid Bream scores for the Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Pirates in the National League Championship Series.
